Senior Vice President of PM Excellence Alexander Kutuzov presented a report on the need to transform project offices at the All-Russian conference "Project Management Offices"

In the track "Implementation and effects of implementing project management," he presented a report "Why it is necessary to disperse the majority of project offices," in which he presented his expert opinion on the need to transition the company's project offices from the control and administrative type, which has outlived its usefulness, to a service approach, in which the project office provides project and team managers with support in the functions of planning, analytics and reporting.

He also noted that many companies formally have project management methodologies and tools, but are not used by project teams. This is because it does not meet the needs of project managers in the first place.

"Before implementing project management tools, it is necessary to formulate a need among project team leaders. That's the only way they'll make money!"

Alexander Kutuzov focused on the figure of the head of the project office, noting that he must have expert power, strong organizational change management skills, leadership and charisma, and excellent knowledge of project, program and portfolio management technologies.

"The absence of even one of the listed skills makes the head of the project office professionally unsuitable."
