28.03.2025

On March 19-20, a forum was held in Magadan "Mainex Far East 2025, dedicated to the challenges of subsoil use in the region. Vice President PM Excellence, Alexander Kutuzov, PME, took part in the discussion at the plenary session, presenting the key problems of the industry and forecasts for its development for the next 30 years.

Alexander Kutuzov, PM Excellence, spoke about the future of subsoil use at the Minex Far East 2025 forum:

The main topic of Alexander's speech was the personnel shortage in the mining industry at all levels - from ordinary workers to top managers. At the same time, when assembling project teams, customers and contractors underestimate the importance of management personnel. These two factors lead to an overly optimistic forecast of the project implementation schedule, which is "broken" by a critical shortage of personnel, both in terms of quantity and quality, and professionalism of personnel. The Russian mining industry needs new personnel - and, according to the expert, their training will become one of the important tasks for the industry in the coming years.

Alexander's forecast regarding the future of the industry is interesting. The vice president of PM Excellence suggested that by 2040 there will be no people left on construction sites: they will be replaced by anthropomorphic robots with artificial intelligence. On the one hand, this will partially solve the situation with personnel shortages, but on the other hand, it will create a demand for personnel with new competencies and at the same time lead to new socio-economic problems, for example, with the employment of released specialists.

As for the mining industry as a whole, according to the expert, the industry will continue to develop. Gold mining will remain the top priority, and rare earth metals may take second place, and we need to prepare for this.

Together with Alexander Kutuzov, Pavel Spitsyn, Sberbank, took part in the discussion; Valery Vologin, deputy. Head of Department, "Dalnedra"; Alexander Shpektorov, chief geologist, Nordgold; Mikhail Serebryakov, technical director, UMMC ("Susumanzoloto"); Anton Vernigora, Director of the Engineering Department, Kept. The discussion was moderated by Mikhail Leskov, editor-in-chief of the magazine "Gold and Technologies.
